Deep Dish Pizza


2 3/4 cups of flour

1/2 cup cornmeal

1.5 tsp salt

2 tsp sugar

2 1/4 tsp yeast

1 1/4 cup water

3 tbs melted butter + 4 tbs softened butter

1 tsp + 4 tbs olive oil

Combine all of the ingredients and mix with a heavy duty mixer/kitchen aid.  Use dough hooks if you have them.  Once everything is mixed together, set aside in a covered container and let rise.


2 tbs unsalted butter

1/4 cup grated onion (1 med onion)

table salt to taste

2 garlic cloves

1 can 28oz Italian style crushed tomatoes

1/4 tsp sugar

2 tbs chopped fresh basil leaves

1 tsp extra virgin olive oil
